Proposed Mechanisms of Action
Combined Mechanism
Thymosin Alpha-1 (Tα1) is the primary thymic hormone responsible for T-lymphocyte maturation and differentiation. It upregulates MHC class I and II expression, enhances NK cell cytotoxicity, and increases IL-2 and IFN-γ production — restoring the adaptive immune response that declines with thymic involution. LL-37 (human cathelicidin, hCAP-18 C-terminal peptide) provides broad-spectrum innate defense: it disrupts bacterial membranes, activates dendritic cell maturation via TLR4/9, and bridges the innate-to-adaptive immune response. BPC-157 repairs the gut mucosal barrier — which represents 70-80% of the total immune system — normalizing intestinal permeability and restoring the GALT (gut-associated lymphoid tissue) signaling environment.
